The 3100 Mile Race is the longest certified continuous race in the world. Runners must average 60 miles per day to complete the course in the 52 day time limit. Beyond that they need to have the physical stamina, concentration, and courage and ability to endure boredom, fatigue and minor (or major) injuries. |

The event was founded by Sri Chinmoy, an Indian spiritual teacher who promoted amongst other things running as a method of self-transcendence. The Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team have lead the way as pioneers of ultra-distance running.
The event is run around an 883m loop in the Queens District of New York. Over the course of 52 days, competitors are required to run 5,649 laps of the half mile loop. Participants must run a minimum of 59.6 miles each day during an 18 hour period from 6:00am - midnight.
