Event of the Week:
Jungle Marathon, BRAZIL
An extreme footrace through the Amazon jungle in Brazil. The Jungle Marathon is a 6 stage, 254km race through the Amazon Jungle that includes swamps, river crossings, steep climbs and descents, village trails and fluvial beaches, combined with humidity and scorching temperatures making it a daunting and exciting event.
The Jungle Marathon calls itself the world's wildest eco race, providing competitors the opportunity to combine sport and eco tourism.
The six stages of the event vary in length, and competitors are expected to be self-sufficient throughout (with the exception of provided water), including food for six days, sufficient gear, hammock, and mosquito net.
The real challenge of the event lies not in the distance, but the humidity and dangerous jungle environment.
