Sierre Zinal, Switzerland
The race attracts a top-class international field, with the very demanding course climbing 1500m over the first 10km of the race, peaking at a high point of 2,425m.
The winner's roll reads as a who's who of mountain running with the likes of Kilian Jornet, Marco De Gasperi & Stevie Kremer having won the event. The record for the 31km event is held by New Zealand's Jonathan Wyatt in a shade under 2:30.
The event is extremely well supported from the spectators in the small village of Chandolin, to hikers perched on precipices shouting “Hop! Hop!” or “Allez-Allez” to any and all participants.
