Event of the Week:
The Lydiard Legend Marathon, New Zealand
The Lydiard Legend Marathon follows the famous Waitarua route through the Waitakere Ranges made famous by Arthur Lydiard and his prodigies.
Arthur Lydiard was a pioneer of distance running methods as we know them. His coaching methods are world renowned, with athletes at all levels of ability around the world still using them as a key element of their training regimes and schedules.
A regular straining run for the 'Lydiard Boys' was a hilly 35km run on the Waiatarua route around the Waitakere Ranges. The course for the Lydiard Legend Marathon follows a similar route around the Waitakere Ranges. With over 1100m of ascent and descent, the Lydiard Legend Marathon is described as one of the toughest road marathons around the world.
