Looking back now life without running seems a long time ago. It’s like that life happened to somebody else. In a way it did. That person would think about losing weight, getting in shape or getting fitter. Now it never crosses your mind. You are fit, in great shape, and eating the right things comes naturally. It’s like your life came into sharper focus. |
Back then you could feel the aches creeping in on a walk to the shops, or playing with the children. These days you explore the wild beautiful landscapes the country has to offer. How could you ever forget the special places you have seen?
Whoever thought getting into running would change the way life felt so much? Early mornings are a breeze compared to what they were. You look forward to the time you will put into yourself in your training.
You feel so much more alive and awake because of it. You are rarely unwell and you do more. At work you feel more focused and on to it, not staggering from one coffee to the next.
You have met some great people, and taken part in some amazing events. What a buzz to be cheered on as you completed ambitions you have held for years! It's good to be part of something beyond family and work for a change. People you have known for a long time comment on how much better you look. And you know it is true.
It’s great to be able to keep up with the young ones in the family, to share the fun.
And all it took was finding the running that you wanted to do. You put the time aside for yourself. You took it one step at a time. This is where it led. It was less of a New Year’s Resolution, and more of a revolution.
You’re so glad you did it.
