The 168km route around the Mont Blanc massif is not for the faint hearted. There are strict qualification requirements to ensure that all competitors are adequately prepared for what they will face in the Alps. Competitors are monitored at ten checkpoints along the route, and for many competitors the biggest challenge is finishing the event inside the strict cutoff times. The event starts at 7:00pm, meaning that all athletes will experience at least one full evening of darkness.
Each of the valleys has its own charm with a variety of terrain, flora and fauna greeting runners. Previous women's winner Lizzy Hawker describes the event as an incredible challenge, a unique opportunity and a truly special experience.
