The West Coaster Marathon is certainly not for the faint hearted, with over 2000m of vertical gain, there is plenty of time spent mustering the strength and courage to run, jog, plod, or shuffle up hills.
Congratulations to Debbie Hardy completing the half-marathon. You can read more about her story here and donate to her fundraising page here.

I have an increasing interest in the flora and fauna that I am fortunate to see and hear whilst out on the trail. Yesterday I took hear from seeing the kōrari (flower stalk) of the harakeke (flax) flowering, being chased piwakawaka (fantail), and munching away on fresh kawakawa for the final four kilometres of the marathon.

Congratulations to Tanya Cook for taking out the women’s marathon. Tanya and I discussed the importance of celebrating success whether big, small, expected or unexpected.
